Subject: [FAST News] Please VOTE for Dana Vollmer!
To our FAST members,
Once a year, USA-Swimming's elite swimmers are recognized for their accomplishments! They are awarded for all of the hard work and sacrifices they make to swim for their colleges and their country. The Golden Goggle Awards will take place on November 22, 2009.
This year, our most decorated former FAST swimmer, Dana Vollmer has been nominated in two very fitting categories. She is on the ballot for both the "Perseverance Award" and "Female Athlete of the Year."
As some of you may know, Dana has had to endure her share of challenges both physically and mentally to continue in the sport that she loves. To mention just a few- knee surgery, heart surgery, barely missing the 2008 Olympic team, changing colleges after her freshman year.
This year has been a very successful year for Dana and we are so proud of her! She helped her CAL Bears team reach their first Pac-10 and NCAA championship. She swam her first individual American record. She qualified for the World Championships to represent the United States in Rome, Italy in multiple events and swam extremely well there (including her second American record as the fastest American 100 Meter Butterflier in history and a silver and bronze medal).
It would be a wonderful way to end this stellar year by her receiving an award at the Golden Goggles. SHE NEEDS YOUR VOTES!!! Online voting just began on October 16th and will end on November18th.
Please take a moment to vote for Dana. We would really appreciate it! You can vote by going through www.usaswimming.org or type in www.goldengoggles.com. Both will divert you to the USA swim foundation. Feel free to pass this on to others that you know that may know about Dana and be willling to cast their vote.
THANK YOU!!!!
